ÖWR Tirol - Emergency Response App

The Austrian Water Rescue Service, Tyrol Division (ÖWR Tirol) takes the protection of your personal data very seriously. This privacy policy informs you about what data the ÖWR Tirol app collects, how it is used, and what rights you have.

1. Data Controller

2. What Data Do We Collect?

2.2 Personal Data

• Member ID: Your ÖWR membership number for identification
• Name: Your name for display in emergency response confirmations
• Phone number: Optional, for contact purposes

2.3 Device Data

• Firebase Cloud Messaging Token: For delivery of push notifications (emergency alerts)
• Device ID: For unique device identification
• Operating system version: For technical compatibility

2.4 Emergency Response Data

• Response confirmations: Your availability for emergencies ("On my way", "Unable to respond", estimated arrival time)
• Timestamps: When you responded to an alert

3. Purpose of Data Processing

3.2 General Purposes

• Delivery of emergency alerts and important information
• Recording your emergency response availability
• Communication between responders and dispatch center
• Statistical analysis of emergency response activities (anonymized)

4. Legal Basis

Processing of your data is based on:

• Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR: Your consent (especially for location data)
• Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR: Performance of membership agreement
• Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: Legitimate interest in conducting rescue operations

5. Data Sharing

Your data is shared with:

• ÖWR Tirol Server: For storage and processing of emergency response data
• Google Firebase: For push notifications (only FCM token, no location data)
• Dispatch Center: Location and availability during active emergencies

Data is not shared with other third parties unless legally required.

6. Data Retention

• Location data: Transmitted only during active emergencies and deleted after the emergency ends
• Response confirmations: Stored for statistical purposes
• FCM Token: Deleted when the app is uninstalled or upon request

7. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right of access: You can request information about your stored data
• Right to rectification: You can request correction of inaccurate data
• Right to erasure: You can request deletion of your data
• Right to withdraw consent: You can withdraw your consent at any time
• Right to lodge a complaint: You can file a complaint with the data protection authority

8. Disabling Location Permissions

You can disable location tracking at any time:

• In the app settings under "GPS/Location"
• In Android system settings under Apps → ÖWR Tirol → Permissions → Location

Note: With location tracking disabled, your position cannot be transmitted to the dispatch center.

9. Data Security

We implement technical and organizational measures to protect your data:

• Encrypted transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
• Access restrictions at server level
• Regular security updates

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to update this privacy policy as needed. The current version is always available in the app and on our website.
